Swim team’s FAST finish

The Fulton Amateur Swimming Team (FAST) has wrapped up its competitio­n season on a high note.

At the recent New Zealand Secondary School Swimming Championsh­ips, four swimmers attended the event and came away with some great results.

Libby Murphy won gold in the 200m individual medley, silver in 200m butterfly, bronze in 200m freestyle and finished in the top 10 in seven other races, meaning she finished as the third-ranked 13-year-old girl swimmer in the country.

Nathan Hickmott took away a gold in the 100m freestyle, bronze in 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley and top 10 in six other races.

He finished as the top ranked 14-year-old boy swimmer in the country.

Blake Elliott finished in the top 10 in nine races and alongside Nathan, won a silver and a bronze medal in the relays representi­ng Pukekohe High School.

Shontelle Dally had a personal best in the 50m freestyle.

At the AIMS Games, four swimmers represente­d the club, which saw Mikaela Hawley place fourth in the 100m butterfly and sixth in the 50m backstroke.

Ethan Langit placed ninth in the 50m backstroke, Leon Duke was fourth in the 200m backstroke, while Ryan McConnell has a personal best in the 50m breast stroke.

Establishe­d in 2013 FAST is a non-profit club for 8-18 year olds offering certified profession­al coaching, training and competitio­n to children of all abilities.
