Staying alert to hazards

-

You’ve left it till the last minute to leave for work.

Amid the mad rush, your phone goes ‘‘ping’’ with an update from the Neighbourly app, this one letting you know to avoid a nearby street.

A closer read tells you there’s a fallen tree blocking your normal route to work.

The incident has been reported and there’s a bit of a traffic buildup in the meantime. Just what you need!

But thanks to this update (and your neighbour at number 32 who sent it), you’re able to plan a different route before leaving the house.

Your neighbours are often the first to know when there’s an incident nearby. Whether it’s a road closure, traffic accident, crime matter, weather warning or just an unsafe situation, sharing relevant information with the wider community can make a big difference – especially when the wellbeing of your neighbours is at risk.

Perhaps you live rurally and a paddock of cows has wandered onto the road. Or there’s a power cut at your house while you’re away travelling.

With the help of your neighbours and Neighbourly, you can stay informed of what’s happening around your neighbourhood when you’re not even there.

The Urgent Alerts tool makes it easy for you and your neighbours to do just that; it’s designed especially to keep communities informed of critical or time-sensitive situations.

You can spread the word in an instant, or be notified of important updates via text message or email. No need for neighbourhood contact lists and sharing phone numbers – keeping tabs on pressing issues is as simple as adding your mobile number to your Neighbourly account.

The Urgent Alert tool is free to use and sending a message is quick and easy.

When you’re signed in on the app or website, simply select Urgent Alert, write a brief message with the key information, and choose whether you want to send the alert via text message or email.

Once approved by

Neighbourly, you can rest assured knowing your important update will reach the right people right away.

Changing how you want to receive notifications is simple too, and you can unsubscribe any time.

All going well you’ll never need to use Urgent Alerts, but when you do, know that they’re here for the safety of you and your community.
