In these health-con­scious times, align­ing a bistro and bar with a yoga stu­dio seems an en­tirely sen­si­ble propo­si­tion. The her­itage build­ing boasts floor-to-ceil­ing win­dows, plus a gen­er­ous pa­tio, both of which af­ford fan­tas­tic views out over Okahu Bay (the lovely yoga stu­dio has the same top vista). Nic Watt over­sees the kitchen and in­flu­ences from his other gaff, the city’s high-end Ja­panese Masu, are ev­i­dent on the menu, as in the king­fish sashimi with sesame and daikon. Ku­dos also to the hot cho­co­late pud­ding, which gets a ge­nius umami kick from miso. Else­where, there are bistro clas­sics such as con­fit duck, along with nods to the cleaneat­ing bri­gade via the likes of ac­ti­vated grains and zoo­dles. Whether you’re om­ming or im­bib­ing, this is a fan­tas­tic spot.
