Kika is the brainchild of Francesca Voza and James Stapley, who also own the hugely popular Francesca’s Italian Kitchen. The tapas-style, modern Italian menu is rustic and tasty, with rich and luscious dishes contrasting with others that are light and delicate. You might have deep-fried Jerusalem artichokes with black garlic sauce and a smooth nettle aioli, and a vibrant green pea hummus with goat’s yoghurt, preserved lemon and seed cracker, then follow up with superb lamb shoulder with preserved lemon, rosemary and chilli, or a delicious half chicken in a rich XO sauce. The “Just Feed Me” menu, offering three small dishes, a main, two sides and a dessert plus three wine matches, is a great option. All the wines on the well-curated list are available by the glass in a range of pours, and service is welcoming and friendly.
