Good Food Guide - - Central Otago -

Sherwood is one of those rare places that feels like home and a special treat at the same time. Forming part of a quirkycool hotel and wellness/yoga retreat, the restaurant, like the whole complex, has made use of upcycling and sustainable design to create an inviting and warm space. Waitstaff are passionate advocates of Sherwood’s sustainable ethos, knowledgeable about the provenance of the ingredients and the interesting wine list. On the face of it, the food of head chef Kane Bambery (ex Roots and Amisfield) is simple and homely, but don’t let that fool you. Dishes like panfried tarakihi with an umamibomb of cauliflower and squid ink puree, accompanied by a delicately dressed salad of radish and celery, are beautifully balanced, satisfying and thought-provoking.
