Kindred Human + Earth is a light-filled white space filled with living plants, cane furniture, window seats and cosy throws – it’s amazing to realise its core function is a hair salon. Owner Cat Frost and her team are challenging the one-dimensional salon model and offering something she describes as “a bigger collective”, while creating beautiful hair in a sustainable manner. Kindred uses plant-based, cruelty-free scientifically based phytoceutical formulations. Its brand partners, such as Davines, have carbon neutral reusable recycled packaging, and organic and naturally derived products. The ammonia-free colour range from Davines is fragrance free to minimise irritation. Kindred is also a partner with Sustainable Salons and 95 per cent of its waste kept out of landfill.
