Uni Open Day
The University of Waikato is having an Open Day on Friday May 18 on its Hamilton campus, 9.30am-2pm. The free annual event showcases qualifications, academic excellence, student support and facilities. Prospective students can try their hand at science experiments, tour the campus, attend mini-lectures and workshops and talk to staff and students about study options.
YWCA marks 75 years
The YWCA in Pembroke Street is celebrating 75 years on Tuesday May 15. It is open to all, with tours of the YWCA at 11am and 1pm. The first 100 people can enjoy a discounted coffee at The Verandah at nearby Hamilton Lake.
Merge in Waikato
Merge NZ which is involved in the promotion, development and services related to New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) is expanding its services to include the Waikato . launch event at the Hamilton Gardens Exhibition Hall on Friday 11 May at 6pm to coincide with NZSL week which runs from May 7-13.
The Women’s Lifestyle Expo is on May 26-27 at Claudelands Event Centre. More than 100 companies will be involved featuring everything from jewellery and beauty to business products and information, crafts, fitness, food and wine sampling and more.
Kids’ Night Hunt
Waikato University students are holding a Kids’ Night Hunt starting at the University violate green at 5.30pm on Saturday May 19. Primary school kids are invited to get a team together, dress in their craziest purple outfits and come along to the Waikato campus armed with torches and clue-solving abilities for a night of fun. Each team will need three to five members with one parent supervising. Cost is $5 per child. It is a fundraiser for for Epilepsy New Zealand, www.epilepsy.org.nz
