Scarecrow gathering in Gardens
There is still time to enter a scarecrow in the Gathering of Scarecrows at Hamilton Gardens next week.
The annual event hosted by the Friends of Hamilton Gardens is on Sunday, November 4. Budding creators will have the opportunity to showcase their efforts among the vegetables in the Kitchen Garden.
Scarecrows designed by children, groups and families will be on display, and this year a “grown-ups” category has been added so parents and grandparents can enter their own creations.
“The event aims to increase the awareness of our productive gardens,” Hamilton Gardens business development manager Tamsin Webb says.
“The Kitchen Garden, Herb Garden and Sustainable Garden have inspired many visitors and this event is very popular with families. We are looking forward to seeing the creative efforts from the community.”
Throughout the day there will be children’s activities including the Scarecrow Trail, face painting, chalk drawing, sunflower planting and various food stalls.
■ Entry forms can be downloaded from the Hamilton Gardens website and scarecrows can be delivered to Hamilton Gardens between Wednesday, October 31 and Friday November 2. The public can vote for their favourite scarecrow with prize giving at 2pm. The event runs from 11am to 3pm; entry is free.
