Ready to care for lockdown skin

- BY LINDA HALL

Exciting news greeted Tracey Price, owner/operator of HB Laser Skin Clinics, recently when she learned she had been selected as the Hawke’s Bay area rep for the New Zealand Beauty Association.

The role will mean she visits EIT to talk with the students and host an event for all association members some time this year.

“I will also travel to Auckland once a month to attend meetings with the committee.

“My contact details are listed on the association website so members can contact me for support,” Tracey said.

“For me client safety is first and foremost.

“Because of Covid-19 the way we operate within the industry is going to change. There will be stricter regulations and guidelines that everyone will need to follow.

“Although we are all in the same boat, the past few months have been particularly tough for small businesses.

“We are hoping that once we get back to work under level 2 there will be the support from within the community to shop locally.”

Tracey said many people would have felt anxious and stressed during the lockdown and self-isolation period.

“Unfortunately when we are stressed we produce more of a hormone called cortisol which can play havoc on our skin and create more sebum or more oil in the skin, resulting in breakouts.

“To balance out the skin I would recommend using a product which causes homeostasis such as FILLMED Balance Serum which helps to

regulate your sebum production and helps to minimise milia, breakouts, blackheads and will mattify the skin so you don’t get the midday oil flow and shine throughout the day.”

Tracey says while clients are waiting for treatments, it is the perfect time to focus on home care to keep your skin looking and feeling great.

“There are many factors that play a role in whether our skin looks healthy or tired.

“Everyday life, including sun exposure and lifestyle, [diet, stress, a lack of sleep or of exercise] can influence skin’s appearance.

“Hence, improving skin’s quality becomes fundamental to prevent ageing signs and to have a youthful, glowing skin.”

She says another great product in the range is hydra serum.

“Even though we’re oily we don’t have the water content. Hydra serum gives the skin a drink of water.

“The great thing about hydrated serum is that it will help the skin to absorb all the other actives or serums that we have in our skin care regime. If you have a dry or oily skin it’s really hard to get a good penetration. The great thing about FILLMED products is some of the products we have inclinic you can use at home to incorporate with your treatments.

“Being in lockdown is a great time to use a treatment mask. We have the GR Youth mask, which is great for plumping the skin.

When you apply it, it feels like water. Sleep with it on and you will wake up with your face feeling plump and hydrated.

“I really can’t wait to get back into my clinics and start work. I have missed my clients and would like to thank them for their kind and caring messages to me during the level 4 and 3 lockdown.”
