Join the walkers for fitness fun

- By JO HEATH Sport’n’action co-ordinator

Spring is just a couple of days away, and I’m enjoying seeing all the daffodils out and new lambs running around on the farms.

Our Monday Walkers group has been really busy this month out and about each week, mixing it up with a different starting point, exploring new walks — Waihi Beach along the coast line and up to the wonderful Trig track.

This has great views.

Another walk was made at the Waihi railway station following the trail towards Waikino station and also Blackhill track by Gilmour Park was another walk made.

If you wish to join the group please let me know and I can add you to the text reminder on a Sunday ready to go at approx 9.15am on a Monday morning. This is a great way to meet people and keep fit at the same time. Anybody is welcome to join, so if you’re keen just give me a call.

■ Waihi Tennis Club Inc is having an open day on Saturday, September 8 at 1pm at the new tennis courts at Morgan Park. All current and new players are welcome, no charge. A great opportunity to join in for a game on the new courts. Let me know if you require further information.

■ Waihi Martial Arts is presenting a K1 Kickboxing Muay Thai, a corporate boxing evening on at the Event Centre on Saturday, September 8 at 6pm. Door entry tickets are available at 5.30pm or contact Hemi on 021 0847 8415 or on the Waihi Community Martial Arts Facebook page.

This will be a great sports watching evening.
