Eighteen players in the women’s field on Saturday September 29 enjoyed the pleasant, warm weather and better conditions to play 8th LGU, Wilson Salver, Karl Wilson Buttons, together with the third and final Strokeplay Championship round. It was a beautiful day with some exceptional scoring on Wednesday October 3, and 40 players in the field enjoyed the sunny conditions for 8th LGU, Wilson Salver, Karl Wilson Buttons, and the final Strokeplay Championship round.

Veterans’ Golf
It was a stroke of brilliance that the Vets Committee held their Annual General Meeting before golf on Monday October 1, and as it was a fine day, they turned up in droves, and like children in school, all were keen to get outside on to the course. Retiring Captain Judy Borchard, who has held the position for three years, leaves the Section in good heart, with ever- increasing numbers attending each week, and a strong committee to carry on her good work led by incoming Captain Chris O’Connell. Competition for the day was Individual Stableford. Men’s Golf — 18 holes
On Saturday September 29 it was a warm, calm morning, and with the better weather conditions seen for a while, scoring was quite tight for the 42 players in the nett competition. Results: Tom Rowbotham 67; Roger Bagshaw, Mike Bonnici, Ray Fisher 68; Bob Hoggard, Ken Purcell, Graham O’Dwyer 70; Graham Hawkes, Don Oliver 71. There was a light breeze that had little effect on the 27 afternoon players in their nett competition, returning some very good scores, apart from being momentarily dazzled by a player showing off his flamboyant new strides that would have even made John Daly blush. Nine Hole golf
It was a smaller field than usual on Tuesday October 2, attributed to daylight saving introduction, school holidays and a drizzly start to the morning. Results for the Men’s TOB Stableford and the women’s Stableford were — Men: Maurice Drummond 21; Clyde Smith, Peter Madsen 18; John Murphy, Keith Leaning, Terry Paterson, Garth Pritchard and Tony Skelton 17.
