Congratula­tions to Strokeplay Championsh­ip winners with the best two aggregate gross scores of three rounds. Silver: Carol Leary. Bronze: Helen Baynes. Bronze 1 Runner-up: Bev Ireland. These players will represent Waihi at the Champion of Champions in Rotorua on November 12. Bronze 2: Rae Wright. Bronze 2 Runner-up: Shoneen Dunning. Bronze 3: Chris Mercer. These players will represent Waihi at the Champion of Champions at Springfiel­d on October 29.

There were 40 players in the field on Wednesday October 10, on a cloudy, cool day.. It was amazing how playable the greens were, and although at times there were some character-building putts that just missed the hole, or were diverted by odd loose impediment­s, most players took it in good spirits. In spite of it all, there were some very good scores.

Veterans

It was cool and cloudy on Monday October 8, and a few missing faces from the field possibly due to participat­ion in the previous two-day Apata Pairs tournament. Scores were exceptiona­lly good, and more than half the 40-strong field played either to, or under their handicaps in the stableford competitio­n. Nine Hole

In sunny conditions in Tuesday October 9, the Nine-holers had 34 starters playing Wintle Cup Bogey for women and TOB Nett for men. The greenkeepe­rs carrying on with their vertidrain­ing activities was not a proble, and in fact Brian Warren returned with a fine 31 nett.
