Waihi supports local businessman
Waihi entrepreneur Hamish Coulter, who is now based in Hamilton, business Ready to Eat was named the 13th fastest growing company in New Zealand in the prestigious Deloitte Fast 50 Awards.
Coulter was born at Waihi Hospital and attended Waihi Beach school and Waihi College before moving to Hamilton for university in 2001, says the Waihi community has been supportive of his business, with a large number of Muscle Fuel pre-made meal orders sent every week. Hamish says Waihi is a special place for him.
“I frequently come back especially during the summer to spend time with my kids at the beach and spend time with my family and friends there. Despite having moved away 17 years ago, it still feels like home to me.”
Hamish has represented Waihi in sports for many years.
“I continued to represent Waihi in under 21s rugby and basketball in my earlier years before transitioning to Waikato and moving into other sports. I competed in rowing, bodybuilding and powerlifting at a national level winning national titles in both powerlifting and bodybuilding. I represented NZ internationally in both bodybuilding and powerlifting with my highest achievement being second place at the 2016 Powerlifting world champs in Serbia.”
Hamish has been the driving force behind the growth of this company and says he always knew he would lead a successful business like Muscle Fuel — but that achieving it feels amazing. Coming from a successful sports background he applied many of the mental and practical learnings to his business from the outset.
He knew there would be setbacks and failures along the way but having a good understanding of the bigger picture kept him moving.
Hamish expects the business to continue growing at the same pace and expects to make the Fast 50 again next year.
