BOWLING

Waihi: November 24, Men’s Champ Pairs was completed on Saturday with a close finish between winners Earle White and Tom Pettard against runners up Eric Jebb and Bob Loader showing the score at 11 points each after 15 ends. However the determinat­ion of Tom to attain this title at age 86 was too strong, and the duo’s bowls, under pressure, proved too much for the more junior pair. Final score 17 points to 11. Women’s junior U8 singles was won by a good margin by Kay Scahill, whose improved delivery skills paid off in the competitiv­e games against Helen Parsons.

INDOOR BOWLS

Waihi RSA: Held its final tournament on Monday night. The winners were Diane Paulsen and Gayle Rollo. Ken Rollo and Helen Meiklejohn were second and Heather Lewis and John Large came third. The triers prize went to Ann Murray and Marie Martin.

A reminder that next week is our final night and we will finish with supper.

Bowentown Boat Club: November 14, last night of bowls for the year. A good night was had by an excellent turnout. The nights winners with the highest score of two wins and a loss were Selwyn Warren, Blake and Duncan Trott.

Waihi50+ Cycle Group: November 24 Meet 9am Waihi Beach Surf Club. Ride to Anzac Bay with Reservoir option — 20-23kms. November 27 meet 9am Te Aroha I-Site. Ride Wairongoma­i Rd, Wairaku Rd and Thompson Rd loops24-28kms.

CROQUET

A.C. section was held in Waihi: Section 1:Won by Carol Woodd, (Waihi), with Chris Browne (Waihi) runner up. Section 2: Jane Seales (Whangamata) the winner, with Ross Sutton (Waihi) second. In the G.C.code played in Paeroa, Section 1 event was won by Ann Corry and Clem Apted (both from Waihi)with Lesley Chapman and Matthew Hodgetts ( Waihi) second.

Section 2 Faye Mulligan (Waihi) and Hilary Mole (TeAroha) were the winners. A small number of Waihi players attended an A.C tournament in TeAwamutu recently, where Ian Falconer won Section 1, helped by scoring an 11 hoop break, and Liz Jackson won Section 2.

SNOOKER

Waihi Beach RSA: November 12, Waihi Beach RSA took the honour of winning the complete Interclub trophy with a win against Waihi RSA in the final.

They have now won this title back to back. Well done to all the members who took part. Tuesday pairs. One of our regular consistent Interclub players Ollie scored a top win and highest break. Winner Ollie Cotterill, Runner up Don Keesing, 3rd Allan Dower, Highest break Ollie Cotterill, Lucky draw Don Keesing, Raffle Allan Dower. Thursday singles Winner Alan Capewell 94 points, Runner up Barry Craven 89 points, 3rd Ray Skinner 83 points.

Bowentown Boating & Sports Fishing Club: November 15, Winners: David Croker and Mike Mc Gougan. Runners up: Allan Bell and Deb Mc Gougan. Highest Break: Alan Bell.

DARTS

Waihi Beach RSA: November 13, Five teams with three wins each meant a play-off to find our winners and runners up. In the end Chris Allatt and Kevin McCarthy were the eventual winners. Runners up went to Ken Rollo and Jenni Orbel — Proctor. Highest score for the women went to Val Dunn 113, and for the men, Chris 160. Congratula­tions to Glen Grindlay on his 180. BRIDGE: Waihi Bridge Club session results ( handicappe­d): Championsh­ip Pairs, session 7, November 5. There were no changes in the order between the scores.
