Twilight season to begin

- Glenys Lee

The Whangamata Croquet Club is looking forward to the new season of twilight croquet which begins on November 2 with a 5pm welcome.

Our sponsors for this tournament are Diane and Arnold Weren of the Curtain and Blind Centre. This will be the 32nd year of their sponsorship.

This is the start of a seven-week round of games ending on December 14 with a shared Christmas plate and sausage sizzle. The second round starts on January 25 for a further seven weeks.

There is a final playoff night and prizegiving on March 15.

Last season we had a tie for first place, Bridge Buddies and

Cornerstone. There was also a tie for the third place, Ramblers and Bits & Pieces.

The croquet lawns are in Bond Street at the Whangamata Combined Sports Centre. Twilight is all about running hoops and having fun.
