Pinny tour coming to Coromandel

Viral sensation brings his full band for local show

-

Global viral sensation, songwriter and musician Merv Pinny heads out with his full band on his North Island tour this spring and will be playing in Whitianga on November 25 at Monkey House Theatre.

Pinny captured the imagination of millions, charting across the globe including America, Canada, Brazil, Europe, South Africa, Norway, Ukraine and the Middle East.

He had his first global hit by making the Amazon world music charts for his song Amazing, hitting the No 1 spot in February 2021.

After organically building a huge following from around the world (with more than 80 million Facebook followers and more than 30 million music streams across multiple platforms), Merv Pinny is hitting the road on tour with his full band through October, November and December.

After leaving school at 15, working on a dairy farm in Te Aroha and playing in a band six nights a week, throughout his music career, this odd mix of farming and music has become a unique icon of Merv, both as an artist and farmer — rising to the top of both industries over the years.

Now with the focus brought back to the music, and with self-penned and hugely successful releases OB Can You Hear The Children Cry, Amazing, Bourbon Baby, and Wipe Out ,to name a few, from his original repertoire, Pinny and his band are heading out on the road.

OB Can You Hear The Children Cry took off virally in 2016 and prompted young people caught up in conflicts to send the singer heartfelt emails.

With a sound ranging from rock to sweet ballads, a twist of modern country, and a wide-ranging and exciting live show, there’s something for everyone.

Pinny is also over the moon to have been recently nominated as a semifinalist, picked out from more than 6000 entries worldwide for the latest Nashville International Songwriting competition. Two of his songs have been accepted, one in the rock category, Little Demons, and one in the blues category.

These nominations couldn’t come at a better time with new music due for release later this year.

The Dark to Light Spring Tour will celebrate his numerous original hits and the two new singles, due for release in October and November, Miss La De Da and How to Say Goodbye, both off his forthcoming album due for release early in 2024.

Experience Merv Pinny live in concert, with his unique style of song, performance and great musicianship. Tickets available from www.undertheradar.co.nz and www.mervpinny.com.
