Two centuries made one innings at Paeroa match
Batting records tumbled in the Paeroa senior club cricket match played in perfect weather conditions at Centennial Park, Paeroa on Saturday with more than 500 runs being scored and two batsmen scoring centuries in the one innings for the first time in a club match at the venue.
The 210-run partnership between Sam Cooper (137 and Jake O’Connor 107 not out) is also thought to be a new record for a club match in the 40 years cricket has been played there.
Cooper and O’Connor also help create a new runs total record for the Morrinsville Piako team.
In a secondary schools grade match at Hauraki Plains College, the host 1st XI put on a much improved batting effort with Oscar Smit leading the way.
The Hamilton Boys High School Development XI, comprising of dedicated young players, was made to work hard for their victory by a Hauraki team which also bowled and fielded better than in previous outings this season.
The Hauraki College 2nd XI, unbeaten so far this season, continued to show improvement particularly regarding bowling and fielding and was able to easily account for the previously unbeaten Te Awamutu College 2nd XI in their match in Te Awamutu.
Jack Duggan carried on his fine batting form and with Liam Gordan and Trent Jackson adding useful contributions, signs these younger cricketers are ready to step up a grade.
