Nor­ton to star in Thames

Thames Mu­sic Group proudly presents an af­ter­noon of mu­si­cal de­lights with Denise Nor­ton on March 11.

Nor­ton’s ver­sa­til­ity spans from clas­sics to cabaret and jazz, and has been in the mu­sic in­dus­try for more than 20 years - ris­ing to be one of New Zealand’s most suc­cess­ful in­ter­na­tional stage per­form­ers.

Nor­ton won her first tal­ent show at the age of 11, and at 13 she be­came a pri­vate pupil of Dame Sis­ter Mary Leo.

She joined the stage pro­duc­tion of Evita in New Zealand, also com­plet­ing the Aus­tralian and Hawai­ian tours, be­fore ar­riv­ing in Lon­don.

She par­tic­i­pated in An­drew Lloyd Web­ber’s Re­quiem and did a com­edy Mu­sic Hall at Char­ring Cross the­atre be­fore set­ting her sights on Europe.

Af­ter tour­ing as Mary Mag­da­lene in Je­sus Christ Su­per­star, Nor­ton joined the cast of Cats in Ham­burg – the first of many Broad­way pro­duc­tions to start a new wave of ex­cite­ment in Ger­many.

Now liv­ing in Thames, Nor­ton will per­form with pi­anist Mark Bradley at St Ge­orge’s Church on March 11. The per­for­mance will fea­ture songs by Gersh­win, Sond­heim, An­drew Lloyd Web­ber and Streisand.
