Hauraki Herald - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS -

How many of you have been enjoying watching all the exciting action from the Commonwealth Games on the TV?

I certainly am, and I admit it’s becoming a little bit of a struggle to get up in the mornings, after the late night before watching our star athletes compete, glued to the box until well after 11pm.

I’ve loved all events so far, but have been a real fan of the cycling (wow, those bikes can go fast), and the swimmers. Sophie Pascoe is a delight to watch in the pool, her 200IM race had me screaming at the TV - she did the country proud.

It was a little disappointing watching the Silver Ferns bow to Malawi in their shock netball loss on Sunday. I (like many I’m sure) wasn’t expecting that result. They picked themselves up to beat Scotland on Monday but bowed to England on Wednesday.

This weekend the Silver Ferns face Australia, it’s a must-win for the Kiwis if they want to be in the medal hunt - but a huge task ahead of them.

Good luck girls, I’ll be cheering you on from my couch.
