Keirunga fire deliberately lit
Police are appealing for more information about the recent blaze at Havelock North’s Keirunga Gardens which they are treating as an arson.
Firefighters from Hastings, Havelock North, Napier, Haumoana and Taradale fire stations battled the fire, which was believed to have been started at 11pm on Tuesday August 2.
The fire gutted one of the buildings on the site run by Keirunga Gardens Arts and Craft Society.
Police have confirmed the fire started underneath a stand-alone flat beside the mainbuilding, and rapidly escalated. Nearby historic buildings were saved. The grounds of Keirunga Gardens are closed to motor vehicles at dusk, but can be accessed by foot easily at all times.
Police are requesting help from the public.
