Elmarie and Andrew Reid have been in business in the hub of Havelock North for almost two years.
They took ownership of their first retail store Take Note with enthusiasm and passion.
Today those attributes have helped them with their expansion and re-branding as a Paper Plus Select store.
An adjoining wall has been knocked down giving the store a fresh and open feel.
Customers can now enjoy great weekly deals along with Big Deal Club Membership benefits. Linda Hall asked them some questions?
■ First of all tell us a bit about what your store offers?
We have personal, household, novelty, baby gifts, gifts for all occasions, fashion stationary (children’s and adults), office stationary, games, puzzles, magazines, books and a range of children’s toys (siku toy vehicles and Lego), cards, giftwrap and Lotto.
■ Tell us about your staff.
Elmarie and Andy are the directors. Tina and Nikki and Ashleigh are your friendly assistants who are always happy to share their knowledge and have a bit of a chat with customers — our regulars appreciate their wicked sense of humour
■ What’s the best thing about being in business in the village?
Friendly customers and a good vibe in a thriving and expanding village.
■ What will customers gain from the expansion and rebranding to Paper Plus Select?
They will now have a one-stopshop that offers a wide variety of top quality goods. Also because we are Paper Plus Select customers will have access to Big Deal Club benefits. We will be open on Sundays to cater for customers who haven’t got time during week. Paper Plus has exclusive rights to the new Mindfood Cookbook and many more exciting titles.
We have identified very early on the need for a bigger range including gifts and toys for our customers as they love to support local business and we are excited to be able to offer this to them.
■ As we head toward Christmas what is proving popular for children?
Lego, LOL dolls, Siku, puzzles, soft toys, board games, car games — too many to name. This is just a few.
■ And adults?
Adults can choose from our huge gift range or a good book to read,
