Arrests after stabbings

Police in Gisborne have made more arrests following a gang fight in which three people were stabbed. Senior Sergeant Maui Aben said last Thursday’s fight broke out after people turned up at a party in Kaiti uninvited about 11pm. Three of the group of gatecrashe­rs— two women aged 16 and 20 and a 22-yearold man— were stabbed. Police have already charged a 30-year-old Black Power gang associate and he remains in police custody after an initial court appearance. They have also since arrested two Mongrel Mob associates aged 17 and 18 and charged them with offences including possession of offensive weapons, injuring with intent to injure and possessing Molotov cocktails.
