Hawke's Bay Today

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

-

■ Each day we will be asking readers to share their thoughts on our Facebook page and your comments will be published here next day. Today’s thought: If I could wave a magic wand over Hawke's Bay, I would . . . Donna Larsen: Get rid of poverty. Kiri Swannell: Have a building for an emergency shelter by night and programmes/social services by day. Amo Timu: Put more food on the table and in the cupboards of the lessfortunate, make sure their houses are warm and that the children have enough warm clothing and footwear. Winter can be a gloomy time for some. Brenda Longhurst-Korevaar: Be there. Arlene Munro: Run a non-profit restaurant to feed the peopl e— run for the people, by the people. Cheryl Smith: Put an end to all negativity. Suzy Frederikson: Make a really great kid’s play space in Hastings. Kyle Hamilton: Put Thought of the Day on the front page of the paper. Jason Lee Hill: Create more jobs — ones that pay a decent hourly rate. Jenny Winipere Mauger: E reo rua — be openly bilingual — as in Wales with its signage and newspapers. William Mokau: Raise the dead. Lou Hutchinson: Develop a programme for young women and their children, which would include generations above. Educate them about their selfworth and value as women, mums, employees, employers, leaders, etc. Support women in Hawke’s Bay to build healthy, safe, happy and successful lives instead of being under constant stress and struggle. Wemust nurture and protect our women and children. Lesley Aplin: Have an all-youcan-eat Pizza Hut. Miss that place. Sorrel Baker: Calm Mother Nature’s roar, eradicate manmade drugs, stabilise the economy, infuse and inject compassion, love and peace. Au Mata: Peace among the people of Hawke’s Bay. Trish Hunter: Bring the hospital back. Janet Neill: Make sure that no child went to school hungry, without warm clothing and footwear, and that they had a warm, welcoming home to go home to.
