Rac­coon liv­ing life on the ledge

Help looked to be on the way last night for a rac­coon stranded on the ledge of a build­ing in St Paul, Minnesota.

The rac­coon cap­ti­vated on­look­ers and gen­er­ated in­ter­est on­line af­ter it started scal­ing the UBS Tower.

On­look­ers and re­porters tracked the crit­ter’s progress. By yes­ter­day af­ter­noon it had stopped on a ledge more than 20 storeys high.

The lo­cal fire ser­vice was re­port­edly try­ing to lure it to safety.

Nearby Minnesota Pub­lic Ra­dio branded the rac­coon with the hash­tag #mprrac­coon.

The wood­land crea­ture also had a Twit­ter ac­count de­voted to it, with one tweet say­ing, “I made a big mis­take”. Many feared for the rac­coon’s safety.The rac­coon was first spot­ted on a ledge yes­ter­day, just a few storeys high.

St Paul An­i­mal Con­trol be­lieved it may have been there all night be­fore it started head­ing sky­ward.
