Hor­ti­cul­ture New Zealand’s board wel­comes new di­rec­tor Ber­na­dine Guilleux and re-elected di­rec­tor Mike Smith af­ter four well-qual­i­fied can­di­dates con­tested two va­cant roles on the board. Ber­na­dine Guilleux, mar­ket­ing man­ager at Balle Bros in Auck­land, was a first-time can­di­date. Mike Smith grows ki­wifruit at Wel­come Bay, near Tau­ranga. He has been a Hor­ti­cul­ture New Zealand di­rec­tor since 2015. Di­rec­tors are elected for a three-year term and Smith and Guilleux’s new term starts af­ter Hor­ti­cul­ture New Zealand’s an­nual meet­ing next month. Un­suc­cess­ful di­rec­tor can­di­dates were Les­ley Wilson, of Hawke’s Bay and Kathryn de Bruin, of North­land.
