Hawke's Bay Today

lighter & livelier

- By Linda Hall

FOR AS LONG AS SHE can remember, Leanne Kommeren has wanted to help all women to look and feel beautiful.

At just 8 years old she decided she was going to be a hairdresser. She stuck to her guns and started her apprenticeship at 17, qualified at 19 and bought her own salon, Head High, at the same time.

Leanne has never looked back and 33 years later still loves what she does.

However, over the years she freely admits she has led a somewhat “decadent life”.

“We have a holiday home in Taupo and that’s where I would go to relax and unwind. And what do you do when you are on holiday? You eat and drink all day.

“Of course I piled on the weight. If I complained about it, my husband would say ‘you are what you eat’. But I would always counter with ‘it’s in my DNA’. I have Greek and Ma¯ori in me.”

Then in 2016 Arbonne was launched in New Zealand. The botanical natural vegan beauty products and skincare range impressed Leanne so much that she started her own business selling them.

Then they launched a nutrition programme.

“The launch just so happened to coincide with a five-week holiday in Taupo. While I was away my colleague went on the programme. While she was doing that I was living it up. Well that’s what I thought at the time.

“I thought I’m not going down that path, it’s not for me.

“It was very naive of me to say that, really. Until you try something you just don’t know.

“Anyway I decided to give the programme, 30 Days to Healthy Living and Beyond, a go and it turns out my husband was right.”

Within 16 weeks Leanne had lost 20 kilos. Today she looks “and feels” amazing and is certainly a product of the product.

“Arbonne has become an extension of my original ‘vision’ of helping women look and feel beautiful. It has allowed me to continue living life on my Golden Path.

“I just can’t express how passionate about Arbonne I am. I have seen it make such a difference to so many people’s lives. I’m talking 100 per cent success rate.

“My husband said I have given our daughter another 10 years of my life.”

replacing one or two meals with shakes, taking vitamins and minerals, and educating participants on eating healthy foods.

“The programme is designed to give your body a break — it’s nutritional cleansing and it’s not all about losing weight. It’s about moving fat and easing inflammation.

“At week five I went to my chiropractor and they were amazed that all inflammation in my body had gone.”

Leanne said she has had many clients who were wanting to move away from processed food.

“People are starting to change and move back to whole foods and this programme is perfect to give your body the kick start it needs.

“It’s not forever and you certainly don’t starve during those 30 days. I can honestly say I never felt hungry. After 30 days you can have a glass of wine or a treat.”

As for exercise — well that “depends on the person”.

“I didn’t do any but I’m on my feet all day in the salon. It depends on your body and your lifestyle. You might need to start walking.”

She has been through intensive training and loves “coaching people into a lifestyle change”.

“I feel pleased to share these incredible products with the community and watch the trickle effect of one person asking another why they are looking and feeling so good and then trying it for themselves.”
