● Took two bags to a supermarket in Hastings. One bag had come from that store and the other from a different supermarket. The staff at the first supermarket would only put groceries in their bag, so I had to pack the other one myself. This wasn’t a one-off, either.
● Congratulations to New Zealand’s Sevens teams for their World Cup successes, but why not have our national anthem played after winning the finals, as at the Olympics?
● We in New Zealand are the biggest-giving country in the world but can’t look after our own — what a bunch of hypocrites.
● Treating The Warehouse managers poorly will not encourage loyalty, positive work standards or even the dignity of being a welcome staff member.
● The Talking Point in Hawke’s Bay Today (July 26) tells you exactly why the Government is not putting the recommendations in place — $2 billion in tobacco revenue.
● To the person complaining about the dirt-bike riders at the river by the dog park: stop complaining. We have been riding our bikes here well before the dog park was created. If you have such a problem with sharing the riverbank, maybe you should stick to walking your dog around the suburban streets.
● Well, Napier rates have gone up in price again. Now rental property will go up also, to cover the increase, giving those in poverty a harder time.
● Another great article, Richard McGrath. Home truths about our council and sensible ideas. Please listen! Richard for mayor! ● Cannabis, why? it stays in the bloodstream for some time and impairs judgment. Crazy. Will not vote for him again. ● Nixon of Dock Green: if cannabis becomes legal, you don’t suppose it would be treated the same as the alcohol and workplace laws?
● While not often finding myself agreeing with Bruce Bisset, I do completely do so re his article on the Napier swimming complex. Council should represent the people! Thank you for texting in your views. Please note that owing to the anonymous nature of texts we will not publish unfair personal attacks in this column.
