Cellist for Bach recital

Raeul Pierard is a highly regarded internatio­nal cellist based in Auckland. Hear him in Baching at the Moon — a recital of the Six Suites for Solo Cello by J S Bach, in St Paul’s Church, Tennyson St, Napier, at 2pm on Sunday, August 12.

Aroha string quartet

Establishe­d in 2004, the Aroha String Quartet — violinists Haihong Liu and Zhongxian Jin, violist Ursula Evans and cellist Robert Ibell — is well-regarded for the high quality of its playing.

Hear this exceptiona­l ensemble in concert in the Lantern Room of the Havelock North Function Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, August 14.

In the programme, Light & Dark, they will take the audience on an emotional journey, exploring a wide range of moods and soundscape­s.

The programme will begin with the warmth and brightness of Haydn’s Emperor Quartet Op 76, No 3..
