F.A.W.C! Food and Wine Classic’s 2018 Summer Series kicked off last night with a range of incredible food and wine events, including the new F.A.W.C! Day Out event today at Black Barn Vineyards.

More than 400 people will attend F.A.W.C! Day Out which features about 40 Hawke’s Bay wineries and food producers plus a host of local and national talent.

James Beck, Casey MacDonald, Francky Godinho, David Griffith, Andrew Saxon, Paolo Pancotti and Juliet Harbutt, all from Hawke’s Bay, are joined by visiting chefs — Al Brown, Martin Bosley, Ray McVinnie, Claire Aldous and Nici Wickes. The full day event includes a series of food and wine masterclasses, cheese tastings, and food off the Hawke’s Bay Grill.

“Huge thanks to our Hawke’s Bay suppliers and of course Black Barn Vineyards, Flock Events and Hawke’s Bay Wine Growers who have all helped to make this new F.A.W.C! event happen,” said Annie Dundas, Hawke’s Bay Tourism’s general manager.

Now in its seventh year, the event is proving as popular as ever as foodies from around New Zealand, as well as international visitors, snap up tickets. Twentyseven of the 50-plus events are sold out, but there are still plenty of tickets on offer.

Dundas said she was delighted to see the uptake of tickets and was looking forward to the F.A.W.C! festivities kicking off.

“This is a fantastic showcase of the Hawke’s Bay food and wine scene and we love seeing so many people get involved.

“Every year we are blown away by the creativity and dedication shown by our local culinary and winemaking superstars as they pull together a unique array of events so seamlessly.”
