Rodeos

■ Well said Jess Maxwell re rodeos. If a dog was treated in this way would it be regarded as entertainment? I think not! So why should horses and cattle be any different?”

■ Well said Judith Drabble. Your text in support of Jessica Maxwell’s anti-rodeo stance sure kicked the cowardly anonymous texters into touch. Their’s were personal attacks and not about rodeo.

■ Jessica Maxwell you are brave speaking out for the animals and taking the flak. Rodeos are cruel, unnecessary and should be banned. Animals are not on this planet to entertain us at the expense of their comfort and dignity.

P.E.F Other thoughts

■ The people in Otane will get used to the sound of the topdressing aeroplane, that is all part of country living. We have them fly over regularly, along with rescue chopper and the odd Tiger Moth. No big deal, just get on with your day. ■ Maybe the H.NTH whingers have moved to otane. we, with 4 children lived next to the wpk aerodrome with topdressers for 40yrs.never a problem with the noise.we ‘acclimatised ‘very quickly.a lot more planes than your two OTANE.

NR

■ Re airstrip on the outskirts of Otane man o man what next. I bet u all have from time to time loud boy racer cars go past in the night or load logging trucks / stock trucks and ag tractors why pick on a good bugger who is only trying to make a living for his young family by being a top dressing pilot give him a break. We have an airstrip no far from my home and yes u do hear the plane from time to time and the stock get use to it but the noise to b honest is minimal!!!It will b wot twice a day Wow! There are people out there living by airports and don’t mind and worst really! PC gone MAD.

ARG

■ Why do governments try to segregate people all the time from the wealthy from the poor . . . that is just pure nasty & National & Labour have the same mentality at doing that . . . what a lost world we live in

■ Good luck on Saturday to Bruce and Bradley. You are inspirational.

■ Great news we will be able to start paying our bills at Paper Plus in Hastings from next month

■ Not receiving junk mail in Howard St either. No New World, Farmers, Warehouse Stationery, etc, who is the deliverer and are they doing their job each week?

■ To the no work road contractors in Napier: about time the rail crossing in Severn St and the big hole in Hyderabad Rd/Richardson roads are fixed.

■ To the texter asking about the water around her grilled steak. Well any meat like chops, etc, always water in dish so have to tip it of and a bit more oil. Fed up with it. same every where. Got to be vaccum bags. ■ You are right GM, no railway lines to corner shops or shops in the CBD. But also no 44 tonne 22 metre long Heavy Truck and trailer deliveries to the shops either. All road freight goes to freight depots first, is then sorted and delivered to shops and business’s in small trucks or vans, exactly the same way as the same freight carried by rail. ■ Personally I do not believe that the new expressway / Links Road/ Pakowhai roundabout will solve the current traffic congestion on the expressway. In the morning and evening rush-hour peaks, traffic on the expressway travelling between Napier and Headings will now need to give way to traffic entering the roundabout from both Links Road and Pakowhai Road. Only a fly-over at this point would eliminate the increasing traffic congestion.

Well said Andrew Martin, a sensible letter. I believe the “track“is a blight on the landscape. Also no respect given. Shame on those that approved it.

What is DHB thinking! A secondhand linear excelerator from Palmerston North! What a joke, it keeps on breaking down in Palmerston, it is just rubbish!

What contractor does the signs for HDC they need to open their eyes, Mcleod St give way been facing wrong way for a month now. Not good.

■ In a farming process called dessication crops are sprayd with a diluted glyphosph8 before, harvest in order to quickly dry the crop. Glyphosph8 killz plants and is strongly, linked to the big “C” word. Do you really wana go there?

■ on to turn right when entering a round about and go straight through. Think about this, I think your turning right, so I walk across the road, but no you go straight through and nearly collect me, so please don’t put you’re blinker on to go right if you’re going straight through, common sense really

■ Sad to see the fun-police anti-firework wowsers are already out in force trying to get a classic Kiwi institution removed. Why do they hate families and kids?

■ Had a fall on uneven footpath this morning in Grays Road. Hastings District Council not interested at all. It is costing me plenty as I need new glasses and doctor’s visits.

Ray C bf

Andrew Martin, I hope people read your piece in the paper . . . just want to thank you, thought your letter said it all . . . God Bless thank you once again.

Sandy

■ How sad hearing of the man dieing synthetic yes seen him around and I’m glad I’m kind to them all and any coin they can have it bless u all homeless

carole

■ I was thinking of buying the Mayor of Napier a trumpet for Christmas but then I realised he’s already got one.

EL.

■ Have still not received the information pack on the sell or share, etc, regarding the Port of Napier this is just not good enough I live in Napier sth not far from the port !!

■ Shouldn’t National be chasing the Babich fellar with the 6 drug import charges get off free card??? And deport him???

w.c.e SF

■ 1st November We have the fire on to keep warm. Global warming. Yeah right

To all those people that put their blinker

■ I am serious about the charge of idle and disorderly with no fixed abode. Good for one good for all.that is the law is it not. ■ One would wonder how many torries are among the court people going on strike. it seems every person that can bad mouth or cause this gov trouble is in for it.

■ Time the police toughened up on people using cellphones. Every day I travel into Hastings to work and every day I see more and more people talking on their phones

■ Have been in Gisborne for two weeks did not see one person on cellphone. Come back to Hastings they are all on them while driving

■ It’s not right that one foreign company, yes the ANZ is a foreign company, can make and take out of New Zealand nearly $2 billion in profits. It equates to each and every one of us giving the ANZ bank $416. And they are continuing to add to New Zealand’s unemployment by continuing to close small town branches Time for foreign own companies to pay high taxes or subsisise the unemployment that they cause.

■ Excellent article on the gastro outbreak in the 01/11 paper. Majority of people coming under the NCC and HDC do not want chlorination of their water. All councillors and DHB members need to remember they are elected by those same people or not if going against the populace. ■ If the banks are making such huge profits why aren’t customers getting better interest rates on their deposits?? Also why do the banks keep taking money off a bank cash card? After all one has just exchanged cash for a card.Seems wrong to me. Went to use mine and it was all gone!!

■ From PhD holder, one would expect Tom Johnson to provide robust proof to back his statements but he is just reiterating White House misinformation without any facts to back up these wild claims. Sad that he holds these views, worse we have to see them in our, normally, first class paper

■ Period poverty. Feminine hygiene disposable products are a modern invention. Perhaps go back to what was used in the past.

■ Thank you for your heartfelt letter Andrew Martin, restores faith in the goodness of man. We are better than that and Maori totally deserve consideration.

■ Tom Johnson — it all sounds like fake news to me

■ While is it the Minister of Immigration needed the media to tell him what he & his staff should have known & in the meantime, we the taxpayers, are “housing“a known Czech criminal.

■ The hoop-la of Jacinda & Twyford handing over keys to 1st Kiwibuild homeowners (parents paid the deposit) is just PR spun & completely misses the goal of affordable homes for those that really need them. Twyford is waking up to the problems National had with a serious shortage of tradespeople but has a lot of big talk (unrealistic) to live up to.

■ Having lived in New Zealand since 1955 I went to Sydney for 9 days. Immigration have no record of me being here so coming back I have a one month visitors Visa before being exported out of the country. But they let a convicted drug dealer stay. Most unfair.

ES

■ With billions of taxpayers’ dollars going into Kiwibuild you have to wonder at the eligibility criteria when a graduate doctor & a marketing manager can buy one — that’s 4 bedrooms, costing $649,000, Papakura, Auckland. Bit of a gravy train & no help to the really needy, that scheme.

■ Naive Immigration Minister actually hid behind a pillar at Parliament on Wednesday rather than face the media. Speaks volumes!!
