The Food and Wine Classic’s 2018 Summer Series kicked off yesterday and will run until November 11, with events all around the region. While a number of events have sold out this weekend, there are several still on offer. These include F.A.W.C! day out at Black Barn Vineyards and Eat Napier at Bistronomy.

3 Run Red for Children ParkRun

Help children who have had to flee for their lives. Last year, every hour the equivalent of 32 classrooms of children, throughout the world had to flee their homes due to conflict or disaster. These children need shelter, food, water and education. Save the Children are asking people to Run Red and be sponsored as part of a fundraisin­g event called Charlie’s Challenge any time from now until November 27. 4 St Matthews Spring Fair & Food Festival

Soundz over the lake’s Music & fireworks festival is back and ready to light up the skies with epic music and massive fireworks. 9 Pukehamoam­oa School Garden Walk

Every year Pukehamoam­oa School holds their major fundraiser.

Eight beautiful gardens will be available to explore, ranging from native plantings to establishe­d homestead gardens.
