On Awatoto Rd this morning a horse attached to a cart driven by Donald McKenzie of Carlyle St, Napier, became affrighted at a motorcar and tipped the cart over the bank. McKenzie, although stunned and slightly cut about the face, was not seriously injured. During the past month 18 babies were born at the McHardy Maternity Home, making a total of 96 since the opening of the home.

In response to a circular issued by the mayor of Napier calling for subscripti­ons to give the children and old veterans an outing on peace day, a goodly sum has been received, including several five guinea donations.
