● Re start kids savings early: There is a group of people in this country who will never save, they are quite happy to live off the Government all their lives.

● Can Mayor Dalton please confirm that he is actively looking at making residential water meters mandatory?

● Now that ANZ have made a $2 billion profit will they restore bonus bond prizes 2 what they were before the GFC. I won’t hold my breath.

● Why can’t the Port Company apply to Shane Jones’ Regional Development Fund to fund all, or part of, this essential regional transport infrastructure improvement necessary to keep the port viable in the future.

● A city and its CBD are primarily for its citizens, NOT tourists. Napier’s mayor and councillors seem to forget this priority in a lot of their decision-making. CH ● I don’t like Halloween or American ideas as a rule, but why not transfer Guy Fawkes to the middle of winter, lower fire risk, most pets sleep indoors due to the cool weather

● Stayed in the very lovely Ahuriri, beauty spot of Napier, what a pity it is so polluted by noisy fast moving logging trucks, shunting trains at night with noisy refrigeration units running for hours, and a greasy smelling chimney from a food outlet!

● On Sunday afternoon November 4 in the small French town of Le Quesnoy, the New Zealand Memorial Trust dedicated and funded New Zealand first and only WWI Western Front museum, but get this, not one government politiian attended. The Canadian, Australian, and South African governments have funded their own museums, but not NZ. It seems strange that we can celebrate a military defeat at Gallipoli, yet we ignore a New Zealand military victory at Le Quesnoy.

● Guy Fawkes night should be banned along with Fireworks as it’s a British factor and tradition. Also Halloween as that’s an American matter that’s annoying when having dinner with knocks on your door. Seems to me that NZ likes to copy other countries’ traditions.

● Re the fireworks, over the last 20 years we have heard the people and the media crying out to ban the sale of fireworks to the public, it has fallen on deaf ears in the beehive yet kids and pets are being maimed by these explosives by irripondsable people using them every year. No wonder ACC levies are going up. WPK Hastings. Thank you for texting your views. Please note that owing to the anonymous nature of texts we will not publish unfair personal attacks.
