Tamatea

-

Tamatea WI president Annette Elkins welcomed everyone and thanked hostesses Pauline and Val and also members for donating goods to the Adopted Family.

The theme was Dress up in Country and Western and there was one visitor, Maureen, a former member so it was nice that she reconnected.

The formal parts of the October meeting were dealt with quickly.

Varna Day was the delegate at the Northern & Hawke’s Bay Federation half yearly meeting in September and she presented a report. Tamatea WI won the Smiley Trophy for most competition points and also the McHardy Vase for their Annual Report.

As we were right in the middle of WI Awareness week (October 8-14) we had decided to make good use of the meeting by making ‘Lonely Bouquets’ to distribute the next day. So as soon as the meeting was completed, members moved to the supper room where tables laden with flowers, foliage and ribbons were waiting to be fashioned into beautiful bouquets. Everyone combined and helped each other make 73 bouquets.
