New supermarket

-

■ Another supermarket for Hastings, still only one in Havelock Nth and a bit far for the village elderly to walk AJR H/Nth

■ Gee I'm looking forward to walking down to the new Havelock supermarket on the outskirts of Hastings or is it April fools day

■ It will be great having Countdown supermarket for Havelock. Long overdue. Why have to wait 5 years ? In one year please.

Other thoughts

■ Places like Te Mata Peak aren't ever really owned - we're only guardians or caretakers of the land we occupy during our lifetimes - and I believe it's our responsibility to leave it better for the next generations.

■ To texter who was fined for no WOF. Everyone else is in the same boat. Wish fines were more severe as there’s countless unwarranted and unregistered and uninsured vehicles on roads. Should be more policing and the revenue go to the victims of road accidents who through no fault of their own are in serious crashes caused by idiots driving these vehicles.

■ OVATION ad. Maybe the govt could set up a ‘dept of social sensitivity', they could be made up of Maori, churches, lbgtxyz, flat-earthers etc. All media could be passed thru this dept for permissions to carry on/change.

■ Awh c'mon Maori stop being so precious over Ovation's clever bit of advertising humour. Like others you too are capable of vandalism and pollution of our land and water.

■ Have we missed something here . . . this Govn has announced up to $100 million to ‘support Maori economic development'. Where have the billions of dollars in Treaty payments gone to? This would have to be a vote-buying excercise at the taxpayers’ expense.

■ NCC need to clarify their watering restrictions. HBT on Saturday said level 2 with only hand held hoses. I understood that would be level 3?

■ Stuart Nash, aka “mate”, you can play it down, shrug it off, but your behaviour in Parliament's gym was thuggish! ■ How is it these so called homeless people, beggars would probably be more accurate, can sit around the pavements

. . . should not pay to take up that space. Come on councils, time you dealt with it.

■ If we want to be one nation, Maori need to move on and get over the past, be proud New Zealanders like the rest of us. Governments need to encourage this by not giving race-based funding.

■ Never heard of gluten free meat. Recently got duped by this meat. No flavour no, smell. Customers read the

small tiny print. Never again.

■ With the Banking and Life Insurance industries undergoing investigations how about the same for the Real Estate Agencies. The cost of selling a property at the median price. the commision being over twenty thousand dollars is worth an investigation.

■ The old public toilets in Anderson Park with a little bit of thought would make a very nice coffee bar and cafe . Would be very nice to have a fresh coffee while watching your kids play in the playground. ■ Nothing worse than politicians sitting in their ivory towers gathering nudge , nudge, wink, wink $10,000 donations from dubious 'clients'.

■ Why is the new Whakatu Arterial Link road so winding. . Most new roads are made as straight as possible because the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. This road is full of bends, a very poor road design.

■ I am Pakeha. Sick of the National anti Maori rant every day re giving money to the North. There are certain members of society that couldn't give a toss about the poverty in Northland. So good on Jacinda and Shane Jones for being decisive and not divisive.

■ Would the council please either make the speed bumps in HN Village marked pedestrian crossings or put up signs to tell pedestrians to give way to cars before someone gets run over!

■ Life in prison, could be out on 10 years. What a joke!!

■ Billion tree plant may not be that good a thing. Will the government take responsibility for the increase in major fires and possible loss of life down the track? How good are fires to our carbon neutrality?

■ Thanks Clint Deckard ( letters feb 4th) for your response to the praises of Trump. It amazes me that anyone can defend him and you give the perfect example of injustices against Palestinians which Trump has allowed to continue- one of the many illegal tragedies he condones.T.Allen

■ Why are the showers so hot at the Onekawa pool? It's summer for goodness sake. You can't even adjust the temperature of the water. ■ Tuesday 5th feb. About to cook evening meal veges. Tap water brown once more. Come on N.C.C do something permanently about it. Tamatea resident.

■ Why do humans insist on dragging their dogs along behind them whilst cycling or running in 32 deg heat? Its not natural for a dog to run flat out like that also would you walk barefooted on scolding concrete? Some dog owners just dont get it KM te awanga

■ Also totally agree with Malcolm Dixon's letter on seasonal work, well thought out

idea. RMZ

■ In fine weather the concerts at The Mission are magic but when it rains the bank turns into a slippery danger zone. I feel so sorry for the 13 who broke limbs. Maybe the bank needs to be terraced. Safety before profit.

■ $100 million for neglected maori land, $84.2 million for maori and Pacifika jobs, how about fixing the health system for all New Zealanders first.

■ Got 4 numbers in lotto and won a bonus ticket yaa bonus bonds a much better

option

■ Mission Concert--don't bother paying for the expensive seats next year. Security did nothing about people standing, you couldn't see the screen.

■ Parking in the Napier CBD. It's very hard to get a park now, as the people who work in town can no longer park in the area by Munro St. What are The Council going to do please?
