Subdivision needs connection to Frimley walkways

- HAVE YOUR SAY Email editor@hb today.co.nz

Trump is no politician. He is abrasive and nonfactual at times, but gets things done, right or wrong.

I live in Frimley. There is a lovely walkway that runs from Lyndhurst Rd across the subdivision close to Nottingly Rd, through to Ikanui Rd. My concern is that the most recent subdivision, by Greenstone, does not connect to these walkways. It is my understanding that the land that would be designated as parks was alternatively designated for walkways. These walkways are in constant use, one runs past my gate and gives much pleasure to all. I call upon HDC to require Greenstone to connect their new development off the blind end of Lyndhurst Rd into this system of walkways. (abridged) S. J.Nichols

Trump and Obama

Further to my recent letter on President Trump and as partial response to Mr Wellwood’s letter on February 9 in your paper: My views are tempered with facts gathered from books and reports, not media whimsy and slanted editorials or television talking heads who despise conservatism and can be anti-American. Barack Obama should go down as one of the worst presidents in United States history because of his fecklessness and inaction. Try to name one of his important accomplishments that did not result from executive order. Or that was only passed without any opposition votes and in fact was not even read by Congress before passage (Obama Care). Many of his hand-picked staff (Attorney General Holder, Attorney General Lynch, IRS chief Lerner and many others) quit under a cloud of ethical violations. He could have been a uniter of the races but choose to avoid most involved issues. He should have revived the economy in quick time, had he chosen (look how fast Trump has done it). Trump is no politician. He is abrasive and nonfactual at times, but gets things done, right or wrong. He tries to enforce existing laws and keep America a place to be proud of rather than bowing to every politically correct (but highly controversial) cause. As for Mexico “paying” for the wall, you will not hear this on the media (nor will most Americans) but Mexico is drafting thousands more troops (under Andre´s Manuel Lo´pez Obrador , their new President) to fight the drug lords and enforce border security and has already moved many of the immigrant camps many miles from the actual US border. They are also accepting new tariffs through the renegotiated Nafta treaty. In effect, they are helping pay for the wall. I will not address Obama’s lack of support for Israel here. As the only democracy in the Middle East and under assault from its neighbours to the point of even calling for its annihilation, support from civilised countries cannot be questioned! P.J. Krueger
