Fine for work injury

A toilet paper manufacturer has been sentenced in Manukau District Court after a worker was crushed in inadequately guarded machinery. Cottonsoft has been fined $315,000 and ordered to pay reparations. WorkSafe says in January 2017 the worker’s arms were caught in rollers and he also suffered rib fractures. An investigation found guarding on the machinery departed significantly from industry standards.
