Powhiri launches Art Deco week
Napier’s 31st annual Art Deco Festival is formally under way after a welcome at the Marine Parade Soundshell yesterday. The welcome included the traditional Maori po¯whiri and challenge (wero) as visitors gathered in temperatures nearing 30C. The celebration of a city heritage dating back to the 1931 Hawke’s Bay Earthquake takes place at the Soundshell tomorrow night.
