Pursuit abandoned

A high-speed police pursuit in Napier was abandoned minutes after it began yesterday morning. Police said they had received a call about a suspicious vehicle on Awatoto Rd at 11am. The driver fled, turning down Te Awa Ave, and officers followed for a few minutes. Police could not confirm why the pursuit was abandoned. Inquiries were ongoing.
