Road busy when we’re all meant to be staying home

I live by the expressway near Napier. I am annoyed at the amount of traffic when we are all meant to be staying home. I accept there will be truck movements e.g. carrying containers and goods to and from the port.

There will be the regular New World and Pak’nSave vehicles, but think others are taking the mickey.

A vehicle count just after 9am — 42 cars passed, most with one person in them, a few with two and one with a family.

It has not let up in the last three hours, indicating there is a hell of a lot of people in HB who don’t care if Auckland motorways are clear.

All sorts of business vehicles passed, from signwriters to a GoldPine vehicle.

We can beat it

Don’t worry, be happy, just do as you are told and we will all come through this and we will beat the b*****d as Sir Edmund Hillary (almost) said and did.

Keep coffee coming

As the coronavirus has spread around the world, we have seen a number of restrictions imposed and Australia is no different.

We are at level 2 and likely to move to even more strict restrictions.

For us this means schools are closed, coffee shops can only sell takeaway and I have to do music lessons by Skype.

Depending on your beliefs, you can’t seek divine intervention as all churches, sports and horse racing meetings are cancelled for the moment.

Last night the Prime Minister announced the easing of one restriction — the length of a hairdressing appointment was no longer limited to half an hour and you could now still get a cut and colour. An odd restriction to ease and of no consequence to me as I am bald.

I know this is a serious problem, but I want my sit-down coffee and cake.
