Another fiasco

-

Some members of the National Party must be wondering about their new leader after yet another fiasco by him in the last 24 hours.

Yesterday he spoke at a business meeting saying that New Zealand borders should be opened up and to get overseas students back. He has on numerous occasions criticised the quarantine system that the government has in place, but when asked by John Campbell on the Breakfast Show what National would do, he didn’t have a plan at all, was more intent on trying to score political points.

I myself thought that students could be isolated in their accommodation, but not so as they have to share bathroom facilities.

Leaking documents to score political power has now stooped to a new low with the ex-president of the National Party setting up a younger party MP. She also has no aim to help the country fight this pandemic by what she has done. There needs to be a law if there isn’t one where people leaking private information should be prosecuted otherwise we will continue to have more of what I call gutter politics.

This Government has to toughen up on people returning home, especially the ones that have been away for a long time, eg; 10 years for example. They should

have to pay their own isolation costs as they haven’t being paying any taxes here.

Finally, if Mr Muller really had the interest of the country at heart, you would think that if he had a good idea he would suggest it to the Government, as this pandemic is a lot bigger than point scoring politics.
