WWII service cancelled
RSA veterans are disappointed that the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II cannot be commemorated. The return of Covid-19 in the community has put a stop to today’s National Commemorative Service in Wellington. RSA president B J Clarke says the latest blow is on top of Poppy Day and the Anzac Day service being ruled out by Covid. Instead, an Act of Remembrance will likely be recorded at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. Meanwhile veterans are angry that protesters have scrawled chalk messages on Christchurch’s Bridge of Remembrance.
