SCREENING GUIDE
THE HANDMAID’S TALE Neon Elisabeth Moss once again puts on the red gown and funny hat to return for a fourth season of this
popular dystopian nightmare. It’s been a long time coming for the eerily prescient series, as the pandemic caused an almost twoyear gap between seasons. And while the last season got a mixed reception, the advance word is that the series is now firmly back on track. One early review gushed, “The Handmaid’s Tale gets its mojo back “and called it the best since its brilliant first season. This should be all the encouragement you need to return to the bleak world of Gilead. Things kick off with Moss’ character, June, as an escaped fugitive and rebel freedom fighter striking where she can. Her increasingly terrifying nemesis, Aunt Lydia, is furious at her escape and begins an obsessive and destructive hunt for her. The show runners are calling it “a nomadic season “but also promising plenty of pay-offs as they “deliver “answers to many of the show’s tantalising threads. All that said, the show remains a purposefully uneasy and uncomfortable watch as some of its more graphic scenes easily match the horror of its grim premise. So be warned. Streaming from tonight.
