STORTFORD LODGE STOCK SALE

Outside buyers — from Rangit¯ıkei, Waikato, and Taupo¯ — made a difference at the store lamb sale at Stortford Lodge yesterday.

The yarding of about 3600 lambs were mostly in top order and buyers with feed were prepared to pay for them.

In the cattle sale of about 750 head in-calf cows sold well above schedule price while other good lines sold to expectation.

Some Chatham Island cattle were showing the effects of a drought afflicting the area.

Prime sale

Ewe prices continued their strong note at Monday’s sale.

A yarding of about 500 mostly quality head made up to $191.50 while even lighter ewes made $142.

The lamb yarding of about 380 head was also notable for the quality of the offering.

There were no cattle offered.
