The story on our Facebook page headed “Covid 19 coronavirus: Hawke’s Bay woman says ‘no jab, no job’ ” drew these comments:

● Lisa Gibson: The rules are the rules, all staff at DHB need the jab. Does she want to put patients at more risk? Find another job if the offered sites are unsuitable for you.

● TomandRenee Sheeran: Frontline and medical staff from doctors to cleaners are all the first line of defence. I agree no jab, no job. I want to know that if I go to the hospital they are protected, as that protects me as well until I’ve had the vaccine myself. If you don’t want the jab go work somewhere else.

● Evangaline Murphy: She does have a job, it’s her body to say no to the jab but also her choice to turn down the job so needs to stop playing the blame game. And as shown in the media you can get Covid more than once so having it already doesn’t give you immunity.

● Liz Payne: She has choices. She can still say no to vaccination but has to accept that choice comes with consequences. Having Covid is no proof of immunity sadly. Like many other virus you do not gain full immunity if you get it once. Her workplace has attempted to offer some solutions. She doesn’t like them. Her right to not like but she has to accept also that she may need to seek employment elsewhere if she continues to say no to the vaccine.

● Sheryl Whatuira: If you don’t agree with the standards that your employer has set then you find a job that is better suited to your standards. Take control and don’t be the victim.

● Bronwyn Hughes: I’m just wondering if she has been in the Bay long as we have had no reported cases of Covid here since the first lockdown and having Covid dooes not make you immune as there have been mutiple cases of people catching it again.

● Joy Graham: I can’t recall any community cases of Covid-19 in Hawkes Bay last November.

● Lynsey AndHaira Abbott: Good on you Melanie for standing up for yourself, Love n Light.

● Kerri Burn: Good on her, her body

her choice.

● Sue Bennett: The company which pays you has the right to require whatever. If you don’t like that, go work for a different company.

● Lawrence Evans: Go and work somewhere else. Simple as that.

● Mike King: Welcome to the new world . . . forget the old one.

● Claire Sewell: Good on you.

● Deborah And-Dean Eagle: Just because you’ve had Covid, does not mean you’re immune.

● Ryan Cadwallader: Yes yes we all know that you know more than all the scientific brains and doctors of the world, but you work in a hospital. With sick people. People who my have a lowered immune system. So maybe not the place for you.
