Achieving justice for the Palestinians
In reading John Minto’s letter (August 28) it is obvious he has never read my book Modern Israel is still Biblical Israel. He is completely wrong. Eighty per cent of the modern State of Israel is made up of the Jewish people — the descendants of their biblical forebears who settled and possessed the land they again inhabit. Bassem Eid is a prominent Palestinian living in Israel who has an extensive career as a Palestinian human rights activist. He said in June about the new diverse Israeli Government that includes an Arab-Muslim Party in the governing coalition:
“This government represents the strength of Israel’s democracy, a rarity in the Middle East. It also reflects the diversity of the people of Israel. This new diverse government truly makes a mockery of the absurd ‘apartheid’ label.”
The biased views of Tutu, B’Tselem and Human Rights Watch are politically motivated and do not match the reality on the ground. For example, in 2016 on the West Bank I asked Tagrid, a
Palestinian woman living and working there, “Do you prefer Palestinian Authority governance or that of the State of Israel?” Her answer was very direct as she told me most Arabs including the Palestinians want Israeli governance. She said they trust the Israelis more than the Palestinian leadership: “The Israelis treat us better than our own leaders.”
Justice for the Palestinians will be achieved when the unjust and corrupt Palestinian leaders are exchanged.

Provocative choice
It was somewhat disappointing to observe the provocative photo that HB Today chose to use alongside John Minto’s letter to the editor. It is, after all, from within these very housing estates that Hamas choose to launch their rocket attacks.
