Our story headlined ‘Napier traffic crossing causes angst even before the lights are on’ drew these comments on Facebook:

● Bronwyn Hughes: They say it won't affect the flow of the expressway. Yet, when they had temporary lights while doing the road works, traffic was backed up on to the expressway and that wasn't during rush-hour.

● Jo Fergus: Should have been a roundabout, traffic flows much better, they did this on the expressway and then ended up pulling them out and putting in a roundabout.

● Tony Alexander: The pedestrian crossings will be the downfall ...

● Bianca Murner: Roads in hawkes Bay are shocking anyaway! Look at Karamu Rd — horrible to drive ... spent more time prettying up the footpath and wrecked the road totally.

● Maria Blance: What will happen with the roundabout at high peaktraffic times? It would have made sense to run the traffic island all the way from roundabout to Niven St.

● Matthew Hosie: It should have been another roundabout. Putting lights there will only cause congestion and problems for all on this road.

● Hayden Henderson: Need some speedbumps on that roundabout for the people coming from Hastings way towards Westshore — they tend to not slow down.

● Deborah Smith: Greenmeadows is shocking lights change, so quick going through to Tamatea from

Guppy Rd, two cars get through and then it changes.

● Megan Wells: The only way this will work long term is if they do an overbridge like at Meanee Rd intersection.

● Zach Speers: The mall or shopping complex isn't even built yet, you'd think you'd finish that before you finish the road.

● Rodney Smith: It’s a stuff-up waiting to happen, just like the notso expressway.
