Tackling wait-lists

A health expert says cracking down on hospital wait-lists is good for the long-term. The Government wants the backlog managed under one roof — directing a new taskforce to deliver a plan by September. It’ll be managed by the interim Maori Health Authority and Health New Zealand, rather than DHBs. Otago University’s Robin Gauld said clinically led taskforces make a difference, because clinical issues require a clinical response.
