Act Budget ‘fantasy’

-

The National Māori Authority is again accusing Act of making Māori a political football. Act’s released its alternative Budget which proposes abolishing Te Puni Kokiri, the Ministries for Women and Pasifika, and the Human Rights Commission. The money saved by that and other spending cuts would fund tax cuts. Authority Chair Matthew Tukaki said the policy is a complete fantasy. Labour’s Kieran McAnulty said it would also scrap several really good policies such as Kiwisaver, and the winter energy and home buyer support schemes.
