Cordis Auckland’s 17-storey Pinnacle Tower is a beacon of contemporary New Zealand architecture, design, and art allowing guests the opportunity to experience this country’s culture in unique and unexpected ways.

The hotel has been working on new approaches and innovations over the past decade and the recently opened Pinnacle Tower gave designers a chance to re-imagine what it means to offer hospitality in a modern, New Zealand context.

“Connection is fundamental in hospitality. People want to immerse themselves in the culture when they come to New Zealand, and Cordis Auckland is a celebration of everything unique to Aotearoa - the culture, the community and the freedom to experience and connect,” says Cordis Auckland managing director, Franz Mascarenhas.

A stay in one of the upper floors of the Pinnacle Tower connects guests with Auckland’s natural beauty - the Waitemat Harbour, Rangitoto Island, Mt Eden and One Tree Hill.

Showcasing this country’s cultural landscape was also crucial, and Cordis Auckland responded by commissioning one of the largest collections of New Zealand art which plays homage to the rich heritage and spirit of Aotearoa.

The works are themed with Te whai ao (the light before dawn), kaitiakitanga (guardianship of the land) and are held together by the third concept, manawa (the heart line or the seat of affection and welcome).

Every floor showcases work from the collection which is made up of 46 works, created by nine prominent artists.

Mascarenhas says the Tower’s 244 rooms and suites reflect a contemporary, minimalist aesthetic, with luxurious finishes that are both stylish and inviting. Designed by interior designers Space Studio, guests have a choice of versatile, multi-purpose spaces, ideal for families and groups wanting flexibility and functionality.

Over the years, Cordis Auckland has been the home-away-from-home of visiting dignitaries including royalty, celebrities and Prime Ministers. The Chairman Suite in the Pinnacle Tower has been specifically designed for those requiring extra security, privacy and luxury.

The expansive 252.6sqm suite is one of the largest in the city and includes a direct-entry guest lift, VIP entrance and an abundance of space with spectacular views through floor-toceiling windows.

Luxury touches include a spacious, lightfilled marble bathroom with oversized circular tub, a private balcony with a fire pit, bespoke art pieces, with custom made furnishings completing the sleek interiors.

The Pinnacle Tower also boasts the largest Club Lounge in a New Zealand hotel. Perched on the 14th floor, the lounge is an exclusive retreat. Guests can soak in the breath-taking views while they enjoy afternoon drinks, canapes, or made-to-order breakfasts.

“Everything in the Pinnacle Tower has been done with deliberate attention for the enhancement of our guest experience. The best of New Zealand has been chosen at every level,” says Mascarenhas.

The hotel’s commitment to this has seen it awarded the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Rating for 2022 - one of only two properties in the country.

“Cordis Auckland is an expression of our city. It’s for adventurers who want to feel at home and explore the neighbourhood they are in - from vibrant K-Road, to the many art and culture offerings just a short stroll from the hotel,” says Mascarenhas.
